Monuments & Statues
This section is all about postcards which feature a monument, a statue or a structure (even a garden) honouring a person(s), a heroic deed, a disaster etc
Some time ago, I learnt
that a statue of a man on a horse follows a certain convention. If the statue of the horse has both front
legs reared up, the man had died in battle.
If the statue of the horse has one front leg raised up, the man died
later of his wounds in battle. If the
statue of the horse has all four legs on the ground, the man died of other
causes later in life (most probably in the arms of his latest lover - ha ha)
I still have not received
any postcard with a statue of a man on a horse.
But the statue I would love to see most of all is a postcard of St George fighting a dragon. If you have
one, swap with me (You tell me what you want, I can sell my car).
