EE-253738 Views of Narva, Estonia

Viktoria who lives in Narva, a border town in the north-east of Estonia, sent me this postcard (Dec 2018).

The postcard shows (1) - the Baltic Sea
(2) Narva Hermann 15th-century Castle. The 51-metre-high Long Hermann tower is its most prominent landmark.
(3) Great Spotted Woodpecker

Narva is the third largest city in Estonia. It is located at the eastern extreme point of Estonia, at the Russian border, on the Narva River which drains Lake Peipus.

Tallinn, Estonia

Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, has a population of more than 430,000 and it is situated on the northern coast of the country, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland.

Tallinn's Old Town is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  It is divided into a "lower town" and Toompea hill.

Greater Coat of Arms of Tallinn

This great card came from Patrik (March05, 2014) Direct Swap Postcrossing. It shows the old town of Tallinn.  In the lower panel, the steeples of St. Nicholas' church (Niguliste kirik) and St. Olaf’s Church (Oleviste kirik) soar above the houses around.
I also like the stamp depicting the flag of Estonia.
