Flag of India

The National flag of India is officially described in the Flag Code of India as follows: "The colour of the top panel shall be India saffron (Kesari) and that of the bottom panel shall be India green. The middle panel shall be white, bearing at its centre the design of Ashoka Chakra in navy blue colour with 24 equally spaced spokes."   The flag, by law, is to be made of khadi, a special type of hand-spun cloth of cotton or silk made popular by Mahatma Gandhi.
The saffron colour represents courage and sacrifice; white – truth, peace and purity; green – prosperity; and the Ashok Chakra represents the Laws of Dharma (righteousness).
This great postcard shows an outline of India with a picture of the Taj Mahal, a white marble mausoleum located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal.   The background of course is made up of the colours of the Indian flag.
I received this postcard from Arnab C. in the Stampboards February 2014 Postcard Exchange.  He has affixed three great stamps on it as well.  It is the complete set issued on Oct 7, 2008 "Festivals of India".
