Riga Central Station and its surrounding area can be said to be the focal point of Riga. All major transport lines terminate at this point. The station was built in 1861 and expanded in 1885.
What is depicted on this postcard is most probably the other side of the Central Station - this is where the tracks are. In this photograph one can see a train approaching the Station from afar.
