Locomotive 99 786 was built in 1954 by Lokomotivbau Babelsberg. It is a 750 mm (2 ft 5½ in) narrow gauge engine and is currently owned by the Saxon Steam Railway Company (Sächsische Dampfeisenbahngesellschaft mbH or SDG) which operates the Fichtelberg Railway (Fichtelbergbahn). The Fichtelbergbahn starts from the standard gauge international line at Cranzahl and terminates at the ski resort of Oberwiesenthal in the Erzgebirge mountains in eastern Germany. Its name comes from the Fichtelberg mountain near Oberwiesenthal.
Locomotive 99 786 is one of several locomotives that is used by the Fichtelbergbahn . The SDG operates only steam powered passenger trains, which carry dining and baggage cars. Six train-pairs operate daily. The SDG uses steam engines of the DR Class 99.77-79, serial 99 772, 99 773, 99 785, 99 786 and 99 794.
This stunning postcard shows 99 786 operating in winter. The location is not indicated on the postcard. This came from a Postcrosser in Russia.
Postcards I have received from 2013 to 2018 primarily through Postcrossing and Swap-bot although there are some postcards here that are from other sources.
