The flag of the PLA 中国人民解放军

I received this wonderful postcard from . She took the trouble to search for this postcard with the flag of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA 中国人民解放军).  I collect flag postcards and stamps (besides a lot of other topics) and it is always nice to get material of sub-national entities (ie states, provinces, cities).  In the case of China, sub-national flags are not emphasised as there is a strong central government.  But in China there is this very interesting official flag which is the 八一 flag (Flag of the PLA).

Here is some information about the People's Liberation Army (中国人民解放军):

It was established on August 1, 1927 and August 1 is celebrated annually as "PLA Day". The modern PLA consists of four professional service branches: the People's Liberation Army Ground Force, the People's Liberation Army Navy, the People's Liberation Army Air Force and the Second Artillery Corps. It is the world's largest military force, with a strength of approximately 2,285,000 personnel (or about 0.18% of the country's population).
