(a) Aruba (b)
Curaçao (c) Sint Maarten
The modern Netherlands is divided into twelve provinces and three overseas public bodies (not shown on postcard) that are not part of any province. The postcards show flags of the following:
(1) Drenthe (7) North Brabant
(2) Flevoland (8) North Holland
(3) Friesland (9) Overijssel
(4) Gelderland (10) South Holland
(5) Groningen (11) Utrecht
(6) Limburg (12) Zeeland
Nearly all Dutch provinces can trace their origin to a medieval county or duchy with perhaps the exception of Flevoland, a province consisting almost entirely of reclaimed land, established on January 1, 1986.
I like flags especially
sub-national flags and this wonderful postcard sent by Haike in Nov 2013 made
my day.
