DE-3089359 Nordhäuser Rathaus

Nordhausen is a city in Thuringia, Germany.  It was once known for its tobacco industry and is still known for its distilled spirit, Nordhäuser Doppelkorn.

The town hall was built in Renaissance style between 1608 and 1610 (the postcard has the year as 1609) and is one of only a few buildings that was rebuilt after the destruction by the Allied bombings on 03/04 April 1945. The town hall was rebuilt in 1952.

This postcard was sent by Susann (Miss Pink) on 2 May 2014 Postcrossing and she has given some interesting information on the postcard.
