Vsetín is a town
in Zlín Region of the Czech
Republic. It has around 28,500 inhabitants and lies on the Vsetínská Bečva
river. The area around Vsetín, called Vsetínsko,
is spread out on the foothills of the Vsetín, Hostýn and Vizovice Highlands
around the Bečva River. This area features the remains of log houses and
cultural monuments of significant importance.
In this postcard sent by Štĕpìk (30 July 2014) Postcrossing, the
central panel features Vsetín Castle. This is the oldest historical building of
Vsetín. This renaissance castle with a courtyard and the fringe arcades was
built at the beginning of the 17th century.
The original building was destroyed and the classic form of the castle
that we can see today is dated from 1833-34 built by the last aristocratic
owner.
Also on the postcard (right upper) is the Radnice Nová (the new Town Hall).
