Kołobrzeg is a city in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in
north-western Poland with 50,000 inhabitants. Kołobrzeg is located on the
Parsęta River on the south coast of the Baltic Sea (in the middle of the
section divided by the Oder and Vistula Rivers). "Kołobrzeg"
literally means "by the shore" in Polish "koło" translates
as "by" and "brzeg" translates as "coast" or
"shore".
Kołobrzeg is a rare combination of seaside beach
atmosphere and medieval architecture. Founded during the Middle Ages, the city
survived the Thirty Years’ War and an invasion by Napoleon, but was devastated
by WWII. Today, it’s a seaside spa destination that is also popular with
outdoor adventurists. Interesting
features of Kołobrzeg are the lighthouse overlooking the River Parseta and Kołobrzeg
Pier (shown on the postcard). There are many
wellness centres in the area and many entertainment options (.(e.g. numerous
"Biergärten") in the town.
This postcard was sent by Daria (4 July 2014) Postcrossing who said that she preferred less known coastal towns. Looking at the crowds on the beach in the postcard, I agree with her choice.

WoW! Amazing. I'm glad that you published my card.
