Naturism
is a cultural and political movement practising, advocating and defending
social nudity in private and in public. It is particularly strong in Germany
where it goes under the name Freikörperkultur.
It refers to a lifestyle based on personal, family and/or social nudism.
Naturism grew out of the German Lebensreform movement and the Wandervogel youth
movement of 1896.
What
is Freikörperkultur?
Freikörperkultur
(FKK) is a German movement whose name translates to Free Body Culture. It
endorses a naturistic approach to sports and community living. Behind that is
the joy of the experience of nature or also of being nude itself, without
direct relationship to sexuality. The followers of this culture are called
traditional naturists, FKK'ler, or nudists.
There
are 147 naturist/FKK clubs in Germany and several official beaches and FKK
zones in city parks.
