TW-1366000 TW-1457821 National Day of the Republic of China - Double Ten Celebration
The National Day 國慶日of the Republic of China 中華民國 is also referred to as Double Ten Day 雙十節. It commemorates the
start of the Wuchang Uprising of October 10, 1911 which led to the collapse of
the Qing Dynasty in China and the establishment of the Republic of China on
January 1, 1912.
The first card is a vintage one showing the celebration in 1969.
The second card is a modern (2014) one.
In the 1969 parade, the participants are proudly holding up the portrait of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek (蔣中正 or 蔣介石). This card came from Awi Walis (20 January 2014) Postcrossing.
The 103rd celebration of this
event is depicted on this card sent by Emily Feng (23 September 2014) Postcrossing.
