In 6 March 2014 Taiwan issued this set of 4 maxicards. This set is a continuation of the Taiwan lighthouse series which began in 2010.
(1) Lanyu Lighthouse 蘭嶼燈塔 was built in 1982. At 216 metres, the lighthouse has the highest elevation of any lighthouse in Taiwan 台灣. It is situated in the north of Lanyu Island (Orchard Island). The island is located about 40 miles east of the southern tip of Taiwan.
The lighthouse emits four white flashes every 24 seconds
with a luminous intensity of 1.2 million candlepower and nominal range of 25.1
nautical miles. This concrete lighthouse tower stands at 15 metres with lantern
and gallery. It is painted in white overall with black for its dome.
Dongquan Lighthouse芳苑燈塔 is a lighthouse in Fangyuan
Township, Changhua County, Taiwan.angyuan
The lighthouse was built in 1983 at the eastern side of
Wanggong Fishing Port to ensure the safety of vessels moving around the port. The
octagonal lighthouse is painted in black and white vertical bands and stands up
to 35.7 metres. The tower was constructed with reinforced concrete and equipped
with fourth class electric lamp, which generated 28,000 candlepower light for
as far as 16.6 nautical miles. It was built with a power generation room, store
room and dorms. The light beam from the lighthouse lasts for five seconds
between lightness and darkness.

Sandiaojiao, the easternmost point of Taiwan, is formed of
the northern tip of the Xueshan Mountain Range. The most prominent landmark
here is the Sandiaojiao Lighthouse 三貂角燈塔 which was built in 1935 as an important
navigational aid for ships sailing past northern Taiwan. A popular spot for tourists, the lighthouse is
open to the public. The lighthouse rises up to 16.5 metres in height.
