This postcard shows the Hokuto service - the train is a KiHa
183 series DMU. The postcard came from
MoToko S. (28 January 2015) Postcrossing.
Postcards I have received from 2013 to 2018 primarily through Postcrossing and Swap-bot although there are some postcards here that are from other sources.

JP-629448 The Hokuto (北斗) service between Sapporo and Hakodate in Hokkaido
The Hokuto (北斗) and Super Hokuto (スーパー北斗)
are limited express train services between Sapporo and Hakodate in Hokkaido
operated by Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido). Train services between
these two locations started as early as 1949. Super Hokuto services started on 1 March 1994.
The journey time of the Super Hokuto is approximately 3 hours. This is faster
than that of the Hokuto by 30 minutes due to the higher speeds through the many
curves of the line between Sapporo and Hakodate.
