RU-3286700 The Coasting Hill Pavilion

A complex extending over 500 metres and flanked by a mansory colonnade was originally constructed (1762 - 1768) for Catherine II who was also known as Catherine the Great (1729-1796) of Russia. Today all that survives of the complex is the three-storey Baroque pavilion - a 33-metre-high building with four rectangular projections and a colonnade enclosing the round centre called the Coasting Hill Pavilion. The pavilion inside is decorated in the Rococo style and it is like an exquisite palace with several elegant rooms. The walls and vaults of the rooms are finished with stucco-work and artificial marble with finely executed murals.

This postcard came from Oxana (7 January 2015) Postcrossing.
