This postcard shows goats (my favourite animals besides cats) and other animals. It was painted by Helena Schmausova.
Helena Schmausova was a Czech artist born in 1938 who migrated to Canada. She painted this postcard for all the animals which died or were injured during the floods in Prague in 2002.
Prague received significant damage from what were deemed to be the worst floods ever to hit the capital. The evacuations before the worst of the flooding have been cited as one of the reasons for relatively little loss of life in the capital. The floods of 2002 not only affected the Czech Republic but also caused significant damage in Slovakia, Italy, Spain, Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, and Ukraine. Several rivers in the region, including the Vltava, Elbe and Danube reached record highs.
This postcard came from Veronika (8 March 2016) Postcrossing. She provided information in a later message about this postcard.
Postcards I have received from 2013 to 2018 primarily through Postcrossing and Swap-bot although there are some postcards here that are from other sources.
