SK-73088 Castles of Slovakia

There are many castles (some preserved and some in ruins) in Slovakia.  This postcard from Milan K. (19 May 2016) Postcrossing shows 6 of the many structures.

From left to right, these are:
(1) Ľubovňa Castle is in Stará Ľubovňa which is a town with approximately 16,000 inhabitants in northeastern Slovakia.
(2) Bojnice Castle (Bojnický zámok) is a medieval castle in Bojnice, Slovakia. It is a Romantic castle with some original Gothic and Renaissance elements built in the 12th century. Bojnice Castle is one of the most visited castles in Slovakia, receiving hundreds of thousands of visitors every year and also being a popular filming stage for fantasy and fairy-tale movies.
(3) The ruins of Spiš Castle (Spišský hrad) in eastern Slovakia form one of the largest castle sites in Central Europe. The castle is situated above the town of Spišské Podhradie and the village of Žehra, in the region known as Spiš. Spiš Castle was included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1993 (together with the adjacent locations of Spišská Kapitula, Spišské Podhradie and Žehra). This is one of the biggest European castles by area (41 426 m²).
(4) The Strečno Castle (Strečno hrad) is a reconstructed ruin of a medieval castle of an irregular plan located in northern Slovakia, 12 km east of Žilina. The castle stands on a 103-metre-high (338 ft) calcite cliff above the international road E50 and village Strečno.
(5) Orava Castle (Oravský hrad) is situated on a high rock above the Orava river in the village of Oravský Podzámok, Slovakia. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful castles in Slovakia. The castle was built in the Kingdom of Hungary in the thirteenth century.
(6) Beckov Castle (Beckovský hrad) is a castle in ruins located near the village of Beckov in Nové Mesto nad Váhom District, Trenčín Region, western Slovakia. It is a national cultural monument and its present appearance is the result of recent renovations.
