RU-2602357 The Beth Manahem Synagogue & Jewish Communal Centre of Novosibirsk

In August 2013, the Jews of Novosibirsk celebrated the opening of a new complex that includes a vast synagogue, a kosher restaurant and food shop, mikvehs for women and men, study rooms and a banqueting hall for weddings, barmitzvahs and brit mila. There are also plans to open computer rooms and a swimming pool.

This new 35,000 sq m complex cost about (US)$5 million to build. Parts of the building according to the Rabbi, are made from Jerusalem stone that was specially shipped to Novosibirsk.

Novosibirsk is located in Siberia and is the third most populous city in Russia after Moscow and St. Petersburg and the most populous city in Asian Russia, with a population of  more than 1.5 million. Of this, 20,000 are of Jewish descent and about 6,000 are registered members of the Jewish community.

This postcard shows the Beth Menahem synagogue and communal centre and was sent by Dasha (23 July 2014) Postcrossing.
