SW CH-199 Hradec Králové - a beautiful Czech city.

Hradec Králové is the capital of the Hradec Králové Region.  Located on the confluence of the Elbe and Orlice rivers, this town was built as a dowry town of the queen of Wenceslaus II, Elisabeth of Poland, who lived there for thirty years.  About 100,000 people call Hradec Králové home.

The city's economy is currently based on food-processing technology, photochemical, and electronics manufacture.  In the past, musical instrument manufacturing was important – one of the best known trademarks is PETROF pianos.

This is a very beautiful town famous for its Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture.  This postcard shows the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, the 72-metre White Tower with its famous bell (Augustin) and the Town Hall.  In the past Hradec Králové  was called “Salon of the Republic” for having such architectural beauties.
