RU-3221706 Bolsheokhtinsky Bridge Большеохтинский мост

Bolsheokhtinsky Bridge (Russian: Большеохтинский мост) is a bridge across the Neva River in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The bridge's length is 334 metres, the width is 23 metres. The bridge has three spans; the central one can be drawn.

The bridge was open for traffic on October 26, 1911. Its original name was Peter the Great Bridge  (Russian: Мост Петра́ Вели́кого).  Today people call this bridge both Peter the Great Bridge and Bolsheokhtinsky Bridge.

There is a popular city rumour that one of the clenches in the bridge is made from pure gold and coloured to be the same color as the rest of clenches. Unfortunately it is virtually impossible to verify since the bridge has more than one million clenches.

This postcard came from Ludmila (20 January 2015) Postcrossing.
