The flag of Germany consists of three equal horizontal bands of black (top), red, and gold. Flags used by German government for official purposes are defaced with the Bundesschild ("Federal Shield"), which overlaps with up to one fifth of the black and gold bands.
I received this very nice postcard from Peter (13 October 2017).
